The biodiversity benefits go far beyond the marine reserve itself, thanks to ocean currents that carry larvae from creatures that breed here, out into the Pacific.

Coral reefs are highly vulnerable to rising sea temperatures, and are a reminder of the urgency of action to hold back climate change. Marine reserves may protect against overfishing and pollution, but to prevent further warming of the seas, global action is still needed.
