Joy and connection in a coastal community.
Growing up alongside the waves, relying on the sea for sustenance, life takes on a special rhythm. Will the boats go out? Will there be fish today? Will there be a moment to splash and swim in the surf? In the tiny fishing village of Moree on the coast of Ghana, the vast liquid horizon framing each day is always in motion, just like the people.
Fascinated by this dynamic, which reminded him of childhood trips to the coast with his father, Accra photographer Jude Lartey got to know the community and set about capturing its distinctive pulse in his ongoing series: Land of the Morees.
Fishing isn’t an easy job, he says, and he’s impressed by the incredible energy and togetherness he feels on his visits to the village. He hopes his photography can inspire us all to seek that same sense of community and the human bonds that bring joy and make life meaningful. His message? “We are all people. Let’s love each other. Let’s be together.”

Focused on the wonderful world of rewilding, Volume 5 sees us get into the weeds – and go beyond the ferns – with our green-thumbed cover star Zach Galifianakis, walk with wolves in Slovenia, create a wilder world in Denmark, find meaning in fashion, and much, much more.
