Supporting Espigoladors in their fight against food waste

Who?

When produce doesn’t measure up to retailers’ cosmetic standards – or is simply surplus to requirements – farmers can’t get rid of it, and it is left to rot.

Or, it used to be. Espigoladors is dedicated to making sure that this beautiful fresh produce gets used up, instead of going to waste.

What?

Espigoladors organise teams of gleaners to go out into fields and collect produce that otherwise be wasted. They then sell it or use it to make products like jams and sauces.

Why?

As well as providing the basis for delicious meals, Espigoladors are preventing waste, easing the impact of agriculture on the environment and providing employment for people at risk of social exclusion.

5 Media has teamed up with Espigoladors to help them on their mission. We’re supporting them with grants over the next three years, and through donations from our community.
