Blue turns to gray along the Marseille coastline as the sea mirrors the clouds. There’s something in the air. What is nature up to? A storm is brewing. Photographer Adeline Care pictures the scene.
You can sense it before you see it. There’s an almost imperceptible shift before the wind picks up and the first clouds arrive along the horizon. They close in with mounting speed, filtering out the sun. Far below, lazy waves also pick up their pace. The signs align. It’s a storm in the making.
And yet, for a brief few moments nature holds her breath, as if undecided about whether to unleash its force and send everyone on their way.
And in those moments there’s still time to deny what is already in motion. Time for a last dive, or a selfie in the sea. In her series: Marseille Tempête!, taken before a storm along Marseille’s waterfront, photographer Adeline Care captures the last remnants of carefree calm as nature reclaims its domain.
