The climate crisis is nothing to laugh about, but when informative meets funny it’s a lot easier to digest, say comedian and Climate Town host Rollie Williams, and The Daily Show writer Nicole Conlan in the latest episode of 5Talks.

“Condensing climate stories down into joke format inherently makes the topics a little less daunting – it’s more relatable than the constant parade of tragedies,” says Daily Show writer Nicole Conlan, who admits that she also likes to sneak climate references into other topical news stories when people aren’t looking.

Fellow comedian Rollie Williams, known for his popular YouTube series Climate Town adds that comedy helps “break through partisan barriers”.

Together they host the podcast The Climate Denier’s Playbook, where they break down the myths and misinformation campaigns getting in the way of climate action. With insightful facts and plenty of fun banter, they are able to combine their experience in comedy and improv with Master’s degrees in climate science and policy in a unique mix that’s hitting a sweet spot with audiences wanting to be informed and entertained.
