Social Media Manager for Imagine5 (part-time)

Are you passionate about social media and excited to help build a strong, engaged community? We are looking for a digitally savvy Social Media Manager to drive our community engagement across Imagine5’s channels, with Instagram as our primary platform.

Imagine5 is a non-profit print and online magazine on a mission to inspire greener living. As one of the world’s leading environmental storytelling platforms, our stories reach over 30 million people each year, and we foster an engaged community of more than 700,000 across our social media channels. Through optimistic storytelling at the intersection of culture and climate, we aim to create impact on a global scale. In fact, two-thirds of our community tells us that we have inspired them to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Our international team is driven by a shared commitment to this mission. With 18 members based across Amsterdam, Copenhagen, New York, and San Francisco, we work within an informal, entrepreneurial culture. About the role

This is a part-time position (20 hours per week, based in Amsterdam) for a Social Media Manager who shares our values and wants to contribute to our mission of engaging people to create a more sustainable future. You’ll work closely with our Senior Social Media Manager in Amsterdam as well as the wider editorial team across our various offices. You report to the Director of Storytelling.

What you will do

  • Community management: Manage Imagine5’s social media profiles on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Actively engaging with our audience as well as relevant creators, brands, and organizations to strengthen our digital community and increase our overall engagement.
  • Social listening: Monitor and respond to all comments and messages across our social media channels
  • Data & insights: Track and document our social media performance and assisting in data analysis
  • Content planning & coordination: Assist our Senior Social Media Manager with content planning across our social media channels, be responsible for scheduling when the Senior Social Media Manager is away, working with the editorial team and marketing. Copywriting captions, planning, coordinating posts with external partners, and scheduling content.
  • Channel optimization: Support our Senior Social Media Manager in optimizing our performance through testing formats, different tactics, trend forecasting, identifying best practices, etc.
  • Content Creation: You will be supporting the Senior Social Media Manager and editorial team in producing content.

What you bring

  • You have experience with managing social media channels professionally.
  • You are digitally savvy, possess a deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices and you are up-to-date with current technologies and trends within social media.
  • Strong writing skills with a clear sense of tone, style, and storytelling to ensure each piece of content is both consistent and captivating.
  • Proactive, flexible, and collaborative mindset.
  • A strong affinity with working for a charitable organization and the personal ambition to make an impact.
  • Experience with creative tools such as Sprout Social, Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
