What can a simple shift in vantage point do? A lot, when it comes to seeing animals in a whole new light.
How often have you seen the underside of an animal? It’s usually not a very practical or aesthetic angle. Yet, the instant our regular perspective is inverted, even the most familiar species gain an almost exotic appeal, Lithuanian photographer Andrius Burba discovered.
Fascinated by this unexpected reframe, he photographed a whole array of animals, from frogs, to lizards, rabbits, hedgehogs and eventually even a horse. All were positioned on a glass sheet, or in the case of the horse, a reinforced glass floor. Eager to take his project up a notch, his next ideal subject is an elephant. “The possibilities are endless — and I can’t wait to bring them to life!” he says.
