A Kichwa woman of the Sarayaku People, Nina is a tireless defender of Indigenous rights and a passionate protector of the Ecuadorian Amazon. As a Global Voice at Imagine5, we collaborate to tell powerful stories that amplify the voices of those often left unheard.

Her mission

For more than a decade, Nina has been a leading figure on the world stage, advocating for Indigenous resistance, land rights and the sanctity of ancestral knowledge. Fiercely devoted to protecting the Amazon rainforest and other sacred lands in her home country of Ecuador, she champions climate justice and the collective rights of Indigenous peoples – working to get their communities recognized as leaders in climate action, rather than merely referenced as sources of inspiration.
